Our take

A contemporary Chinese film noir, Yinan Diao’s dark detective thriller is both brutal, incendiary cultural criticism and gorgeously realised filmmaking. Produced by fellow filmmaker Vivian Qu (Trap Street, Angels Wear White), and winner of the Golden Bear at the 2014 Berlinale.
